My Name is Ebony - And I Almost Got Left Behind

Hello there. My name is Ebony and I am a black cat — as you can see.

I remember the day Nicolette and Berney came to the store where I was being put up for adoption. There was another older cat below me in a separate cage. The whole place felt chaotic and strange. That cat below me would hiss at some people when they got too close. She didn't say much to me either. I found out her name was Mama B.

The day Nicolette and Berney came over they really connected with Mama B. You could see it happening. A little while later they took her out of the store and left.

Now I was really alone. I had nightmares that night. What was going to happen to me?

The next day — as soon as the store opened — Berney and Nicolette came back. This time they came to talk to me. And just like that they took me out of the store with them and we went to their house.

When we got there Mama B was already home. I was so happy to see her — even though she preferred to be left alone. It was still good to be near someone familiar.

There were also two dogs there. They were called Sheba and Tiki. I didn't know what they would do if they got close so I stayed back and watched Mama B. She wasn't afraid of them at all. She would hiss at them sometimes and that was it. So slowly I let the dogs come closer. Before long we were all comfortable with each other and life was wonderful.

I was in my forever family. And it was GRRREEATT — as my uncle Tony would say. 🐾
