The Forever Family Project was born from one couples refusal to accept that healthy, loving animals should die simply because a shelter ran out of space or time. Founded by Berney and Nicolette Lincoln in Chico, California, we believe every animal deserves a full life — and every family deserves the chance to love an animal and be loved by one.

Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary is our answer to a struggling system. A sanctuary where rescued dogs and cats live, get trained, and thrive while waiting for the right family to find them. No kill dates. No cages. No giving up. Our model is simple but revolutionary — animals stay with us while families love them. Monthly memberships cover everything: food, veterinary care, grooming and training. Families visit on their scheduled time slots, and build real bonds with their animals over time.
